Survivor: What A Shame Island

You know, now that I'm getting older, it's becoming more and more apparent how ridiculous certain television programming is becoming. My recent gripe is with CBS and its newest installment of the reality tv show, Survivor. In case you haven't heard, the show is now creating teams based on none other than...race. African American, Latino, Whites, and Asian. All on an island...competing against each other. Now, I'm happy that officials in New York are taking a stand against this issue. Did the producers think for a minute that this would go over smoothly? Oh that's right, race relations in America ARE smooth, right? The answers are in a book I'm starting to re-read called By the Color of Our Skin by one of my good friends and co-workers, Barbara Diggs-Brown. I have a feeling this will open up some interesting debates and unfortunately fuel teamwork across the nation in a not so good way. What happens if the Black team fails and loses to the Latino team in an event? THIS IS RIDUCLOUS FOLKS! Apparently, some great people in the blogosphere feel the same way.

CBS can get into deep shnooky for having Janet Jackson's boob fall out but it's ok for them to support segregated game shows....2 thumbs up Viacom!
