See Like Superman?

Yeah, that's exactly the look I had on my face when I read this article in Wired.

Now I have been afflicted with nearsightedness for most of my life and as annoying as it can be sometimes e.g. cracked/lost glasses, cleaning contact every night, losing contacts - I have gotten used to it. And now I'm reading about how to get vision better than...perfect?

Hmm. Well I guess it's not perfect anymore.

Double the clarity of 20/20 vision, these new pixel-tastic lenses fix everything! Your own personal scleral gnomes to correct your vision problems. How neato is that?

...well not so neat if you are an Iraqi terrorist in the scope of an American sniper thousands of feet away on a rocky canyon top. Hmm.

Here are the highlights of the article:
  • PixelOptics of Roanoke, Virginia, just won a $3.5 million Department of Defense grant to refine its "supervision" technology, which Blum claims could double the quality of a person's eyesight.
  • Tiny, electronically-controlled pixels embedded within a traditional eyeglass lens.
  • Ophthonix in San Diego has already sold thousands of the lenses in California, and expects to roll out its product soon.
